حَتَّى اِذَا أَخْوَفُ مَا َاخَافُ عَلَى اُمّتِي ثَلاَثٌ: رَجُلٌ قَرَأَ كِتَابَ اللّهِ تَعَالَى
أَوِ اَخْتَرَطَبِهِ رُؤِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ بَهْجَتُهُ وَ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ رِدَاءُ الْإِسْلاَمِ أَعَارَهُ اللّهُ إِيَّاهَا
سَيْفَهُ فَضَرَبَ بِهِ جَارَهُ وَ رَمَاهُ بِالشِّرْكِ، قِيْلَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّه! اَلرَّامِي
الْمَرْمِيُّ؟ قَالَ الرَّامِي ........ الطبرَانيأَحَقُّ
Rasoolullah [sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam]
said: "The three things I fear most regarding my
Ummat are:
A man who read the Qur'aan until it's blessing was
seen upon him. Thereafter, Allah Removed that cloak
from him. He took his sword with him, then attacked
his neighbor with it, and accused him of Shirk.
It was said, "Yaa RasoolAllah! Is the accuser or the
accused more guilty of Shirk?
He [sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam] replied: "It is the
accuser..................'"
Narrated by Abu Ya'la, from Hudhaifa and about
which Ibn Kathir said, "It's chain of transmission is
good." Also, by Tabarani.
أَخْوَفُ مَا َاخَافُ عَلَى اُمّتِي رَجُلٌ يَتَأَوَّلُ الْقُرْآنَ يَضَعَهُ فِي غَيْرِ
مَوْضِعِهِ -تفسير تأويلاَت أهل السنة للإمَام مَاتريدي
What I fear most for my Ummat, is the man who
interprets the Qur'an in the wrong context. -Tafseer
al-Maturidi, Ta'weelat Ahl-is-Sunnah
كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرٍ يَرَاهُمْ شِرَارَ خَلْقِ اللّهِ وَ قَالَ: اِنَّهُمْ انْطَلَقُوْا اِلَىآيَاتٍ
الطبرينَزَلَتْ في الْكُفَّارِ فَجَعَلُوْهَا في الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ -البخاري، الفتح البَاري،
It is a characteristic of the Khawârij sect to apply
Aayaat of the Qur'an about the Kuffar, upon the
Mumins. Imâm al-Bukhârî has a Bâb (chapter) in which
is the following narration about the Khawarij:
"Ibn `Umar considered them (the Khawârij) to be the
worst creation of Allâh and would say: 'They apply
those Aayaat which were revealed upon the Kuffar
and apply them onto the Mumins'." (al-Bukhârî, Sahîh,
