Zabeeha- The Only Halal Meat

Haamidan wa Musalliyan wa Musallima
The meat available commonly in the West is killed by anti-Shariat,
Haraam means:
1. Without Allah's Name being pronounced at the time of slaughter,
2. Is mechanized [the slaughterer, i.e. "Zaabih", is neither a Muslim, nor
Jew nor a Christian]
3. The condition of the carotids, jugulars, trachea and esophagus being
cut without the spinal cord is not met.
etc....
The Condition of Mentioning Allah's Name at the Time of Slaughter:
Positively, Allah-SWT said:
فكلوا مما ذكراسم الله عليه ان كنتم بئآياته مؤمنين
"Fa kuloo mimmaa zukirasmullahi 'alayhi in kuntum bi-ayaatihi
mu'mineen" al-An'aam:118
Eat of that (meat) over which Allah's Name has been pronounced (while
slaughtering the animal) if you are believers in his Aayaat (proofs,
evidences, signs, revelations, etc.)
Negatively, Allah-SWT said:
ولا تأكلوا مما لم يذكراسم الله عليه وانه لفسق وان الشياطين ليوحون الى
اوليائهم ليجادلوكم وان اطعتموهم انكم لمشركون
"Wa laa ta'kuloo mimmaa lam yuzkarasmullahi 'alayhi wa innahu la fisq
wa innash shayaateena la yoohoona ilaa awliyaa-ihim liyujaadilookum wa
in ata'tumoohum innakum la mushrikoon" al-An'aam: 121
Tafseer & Translation:
And eat not (O Muslims) of that (meat) over which Allah's Name
has not been pronounced (at the time of slaughtering the animal), for
sure it is Fisq (a major sin and disobedience of Allah) and certainly the
Shayaateen do inspire their friends (from mankind) to dispute with you;
and if you obey them [by making al-Maitah (a dead animal-not
slaughtered in the name of Allah) legal by eating it], then you would
indeed be Mushrikoon (polytheists);
From Tafseer Ibn Abbas- Tanwir-ul-Miqbas:
{ وَلاَ تَأْكُلُواْ مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ ٱسْمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ } من الذبائح عمداً { وَإِنَّهُ لَفِسْقٌ }
الضرورة معصية واستحلاله على إنكار التنزيل كفر { يعني أكله له بغير
} يوسوسون أولياءهم أبا الأحوص وَإِنَّ ٱلشَّيَاطِينَ لَيُوحُونَ إِلَىۤ أَوْلِيَآئِهِمْ
والشرك وأن الملائكة وأصحابه { لِيُجَادِلُوكُمْ } يخاصموكم في أكل الميتة
بنات الله { وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ } في الشرك وأكل الميتة فأحللتموها غير
مضطرين إليها { إِنَّكُمْ لَمُشْرِكُونَ } مثلهم
And Questioningly, Allah-SWT Said:
وما لكم الا تأكلوا مما ذكراسم الله عليه و قد فصل لكم ما حرم عليكم الا
وان كثيرا ليضلون بأهوائهم بغيرعلم ان ربك هوأعلم ما اضتررتم إليه
بالمعتدين
"wa maa lakum allaa ta'kuloo mimmaa zukirasmullahi 'alayhi wa qad
fassala lakum maa harrama 'alaykum illaa maDTurirtum ilayh..wa inna
katheeral-layuDilloona bi-ahwaa-ihim bi-ghayri 'ilm...inna rabbaka huwa
a'lamu bil-mu'tadeen”
“And why should you not eat of that (meat), over which Allah's Name
has been pronounced (at the time of slaughtering of the animal), while
He Has Explained to you in detail what is forbidden to you,
except under compulsion of necessity, and surely, many do lead
(mankind) astray by there own desires through lack of knowledge.
Certainly your Lord knows best the trangressors.” al-An'aam: 119
In Hunting with Trained Animals:
فكلوا مما امسكن عليكم واذكروا اسم الله عليه واتقوا الله ان الله سريع
الحساب
"fa kuloo mimmaaa amsakna 'alaykum wazkurusmallaahi 'alayhi
wattaqullaah innallaaha saree'ul hisaab"
"As for what you have taught hunting dogs [to catch], teaching them out
of what Allah has taught you, eat of what they catch for you and invoke
Allah's Name upon it (at the time of slaughtering), and be wary
of Allah. Indeed, Allah is swift at reckoning." [al-Maa-idah: 4]
وطعامكملكمحلالكتٰباوتواحل لهم اليوم احل لكم الطيبات وطعام الذين
"al-yaumu uhilla lakumut-tayyibaat wa Ta'amullazeena ootul kitaaba
hillul lakum wa ta'amukum hillul lahum"
"Today I Have Made pure foods Halal for you. The
[Zabeeha/slaughtered] meat of those given the Scripture [Jews and
Christians] is Halal for you and your [Zabeeha/slaughtered] meat is
Halal for them."
This Aayat indicates that their Kosher and our Zabeeha/Halaal are
lawful.
Hadrat Ibn Abbas [R] said that : “Wa taamu-llazeena ootul-kitaaba”
means their Zabeeha. [Tafseer al-Tabari and Bukhari in al-Ta`leeqaat]
It does not indicate in any way or form that non-Kosher, mechanically
slaughtered, etc. are lawful in Islam.
Allah-SWT said:
صواف فإذا والبدن جعلنٰها لكم من شعٰئرالله لكم فيها خير فاذكروا اسم الله
وجبت جنوبها فكلوا منها واطمعوا القانع والمعتر عليها
''We have appointed for you the (sacrificial) camels as one of Allah's
sacraments. There is good for you in them, so invoke the Name of Allah
upon them [then slaughter] as they stand. And when they have fallen on
their shanks eat from them, and feed the self-contained needy and the
mendicant”
Allah-SWT also says:
ولكل أمة جعلنا منسكا ليذكروا اسم الله على ما رزقهم من بهيمة الأنعٰم
“For every nation, We have appointed a rite that they invoke Allah's
Name upon the livestock He has provided them (at the time of
slaughter)."
Rasoolullah Muhammad al-Mustafa [salla-llahu-`alayhi-wa-sallam] said:
فلا تأكل، و إنما سميت على كلبك و لم تسم على غيره
البخاري
“Do not eat it (the killed animal), as you invoked Allah's Name upon
your hunting dog, and you did not invoke Allah's Name upon the other
dog” [Bukhari]
(that was found with the killed animal along with Adi bin Haatim's [R]
hunting dog. He stated he did not know which dog had killed the animal
and wanted to know whether it was Halal to eat.) [Bukhari]
لا يدخل الجنة جسد غذي بالحرام
بيهقي، مشكاة
A body that was nourished with Haraam shall not enter Jannat [Heaven]
امرر الدم بما شئت و اذكر اسمالله

Let [the animal's] blood flow out with a sharp instrument of your choice
and invoke Allah's Name.
ما علمت من كلب او باز ثم ارسلته و ذكرت اسم الله فكل ....

If you invoked Allah's Name and sent off your trained hunting dog or
falcon, then eat [of what it hunts].
عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت قالوا يا رسول الله إن هنا اقواما حديث
بلحمان لا ندري أيذكرون اسم الله عليها ام لا قال عهدهم بشرك يأتوننا
اذكروا انتم اسم الله و كلوا

Yaa Rasoolallah! There are people here who, in the recent past were
Mushriks [recently accepted islam] they brought us two meats we do not
know whether they invoked Allah's Name at the time of slaughter or
not. He replied: Invoke Allah's name and eat
أنهر الدم بما شئت و اذكر اسم الله

Let [the animal's] blood flow out with a sharp instrument of your choice
and invoke Allah's Name.
إذا سميتم فكبروا يعني على الذبيحة

When you say Bismillah upon the Zabeeha also say Allahu-Akbar.

It is mandatory for every Muslim to invoke Allah's Name [at the time of
slaughter]
. يتعمد و الصيد كذلكذبيحة المسلم حلال سمى أو لم يسم ما لم

The Zabeeha of a Muslim is Halal even if he accidentally forgets to say
Bismillah at the time of slaughter, the same applies for the hunted
animals [with trained hunting dogs, falcons, and the like]
أن عليا كرم الله وجهه إذا وجه ذبيحته قال: إني وجهت وجهي للذي فطر
السموات و الارض حنيفا و ما أنا من المشركين أن صلوتي و نسكي و
محياي و مماتي لله رب العالمين لا شريك له و بذلك أمرت و أنا من
المسلمين اللهم منك و لك بسم الله و الله اكبر.
أبو مسلم الكاتب في أماليه
As Sayyiduna Ali [Karramallahu wajhahu] faced his Zabeeha, he used to
recite the Aayat "Inni wajjahtu wajhiya lillazee fataras-samawaati............
(rest as above) O' Allah, [this Zabeeha] is from you and for you,
Bismillah w-Allahu Akbar.
عن علي كرم الله وجهه قال: لا تأكلوا ذبائح نصارى بني تغلب، فإنهم لم
يتمسكوا بشيء من النصرانية إلا بشرب الخمر
الشافعي، الطبري، ق
Sayyiduna Ali [Karramallahu wajhahu] said: Do not eat the Zabeeha of
the Christians of Bani Taghlab, as they do not adhere to anything of
Christianity other than the drinking of wine.
نهى عن ذبيحة نصارى العرب
حل
[Rasoolullah-salla-llahu-`alayhi-wa-sallam] prohibited the Zabeeha of
Christian Arabs. [as in above Hadeeth]
ما أنهر الدم و ذكر اسم الله عليه فكل، ليس السن و الظفر
البخاري
"Invoke Allah's Name upon the animals that have flowing blood [at the
time of slaughter] and then eat of them, but not the teeth and nails."
[Bukhari]
إذا رميت بسهمك فاذكر اسم الله فإن وجدته قد قتل فكل

"When you fire your arrow invoke Allah's Name, and if you reach the
animal and find that it has died, you may still eat it.” [Muslim]
ما صدت بقوسك فاذكر اسم الله و كل ما صدت بكلبك فاذكر اسم الله و كل

"Invoke Allah's Name upon what you hunt with your bow and eat of it.
Invoke Allah's Name upon what you hunt with your hunting dog and eat
of it." [Bukhari]
من ذبح قبل الصلوة فليذبح مكانها أخرى، و من كان لم يذبح حتى صلينا
فليذبح على اسم الله

"Whosoever slaughters before Salaat [Eid-ul-Adhaa], must slaughter
another one is its place [as the timing of the first was not valid]. One
who did not slaughter until after we completed Salaat [-ul-Eid], must
invoke Allah's Name and slaughter." [Bukhari]
